Latest Covid vaccination update

Posted on January 24th, 2021

The local Covid Vaccination programme is progressing well.

All the latest information can be found at New Forest PCN Covid-vaccine.

The vaccination programme is being delivered by a collaboration of local surgeries (Chawton House Surgery with Wistaria and Milford Surgery, Lyndhurst Surgery and New Forest Central Medical Group) from Milford War Memorial Hospital.

So far over 4,500 dose have being administered, representing around 13% of the local population. This includes all Care Home residents and staff as well as the vast majority of patients who are over 80.

In line with national guidance, we are now beginning to vaccinate those age 7o-79 years, and patients who are ‘Clinically Extremely Vulnerable’ (i.e. patients who have been advised to ‘shield’). When your turn to be invited arrives, you can expect to be invited by text or email and can then book in very simply online. We will also be calling those that do not have mobile phones or emails to ensure they are to missed.

The feedback we have received from our patients is that the booking system and the running of the clinic at Milford War Memorial Hospital is very efficient and well organised.

Addition local vaccination sites are opening up, offering additional capacity to deliver the programme as rapidly as possible. For example clinics in Bournemouth (BIC), Christchurch and Totton have recently started offering appointments. If you receive an appointment for one of these alternatives you can go ahead and book to be vaccinated there, or wait until you receive your invitation to be vaccinated at Milford War Memorial Hospital.
